My new CD is now available at all online music stores, most notably CD Baby, and iTunes. This collection of 11 tunes, written over the past 2 years, represents a new direction for me and my studio band - smaller arrangements, with vocals much more “out front”, and very, very sparse, both in principle recording and post-production. As I was recording these songs, I found myself wishing that I’d made this type of record long ago.
That said, I likely would not have been able to achieve this new level of work, both behind the microphone and behind the desk, were it not for my involvement in the Tall Men Group, the songwriter-band brainchild of my good friend, Jimmy Yessian. I gotta hand it to Jimmy, plainly and simply, for providing me good reason to just ‘sit down and write’ with regularity, which led to this entire collection of tunes. And, as Malcolm Gladwell espouses, in regard to most things in this life, repetition breeds proficiency. All the other session work being done at my studio has truly helped me reach new levels in production, both in concept and execution. Additionally, I continue to work with longtime friend, Terry “T. Smidi” Smith, whose studio counsel only adds to the production values of my music.
My band-mates – Nick Kirgo, Daniel Rhine, and Ed Tree, and I will be touring this record around Los Angeles by the end of first quarter, 2016. They truly shine on this record and treated the music as if it were their own, for which I owe a true debt of thanks.
